It is claimed that dimpled balls travel up to 4 times farther than smooth-surfaced golf balls. Scientists used aerodynamics to help explain this phenomena. The dimples redirect more air pressure behind the golf ball rather than in front of it, and in this way reduces the drag and forces the ball to go farther distance.
Hmmmmm....If this is true:
- Why hasn't Nike made a one piece dimply (is that a word?) sprinter outfit for the Olympics?
- Why are our jets not dimpled?
- Why don't they dimple Ferraris and other high speed race cars?
- Why didn't Lance Armstrong have a dimpled helmet and bike? He could have won 10 more!
- If you have natural dimples, are you more areodynamic than someone without dimples?
- Can I get better gas mileage if I dimple my car?
- Are dimpled items allowed as carry on at the airport?
