Yeah, yeah...I'm back

16 days...
7 countries...
15 airplane flights....
37 hours of lost sleep....

I'd post some pictures but they are on my work laptop and well...I don't have to be back to work until the 2nd. That makes almost a month since I've actually been to my work desk. Nice! I guess I'm definitely back; no more 85 degree days. But on the plus side, no more plane delays, no more buses catching on fire (yep...Costa Rica...more when I get the pics).

Went skiing today...along with the entire population of Portland it seems. Beautiful sunny weather and perfect snow; now that is unusual for Mt. Hood skiing. Nice first day of it but I think I still prefer white water rafting in Costa Rica...call me crazy...

Some little known facts and tips I learned on this trip:

- In Costa Rica, prostitution is legal (ok, get your mind out of the gutter...I didn't pay for sex!)

- Don't drive in Costa Rica if you can help it; they use the island as the "poor mans Panama canal" and undock ships on one side, truck the goods to the other side and load them on other ships. It makes for a damn lot of trucks on the road.

- There are 15 different poisenous snakes in Costa Rica; watch where you hike

- You can get 57 bug bites at Machu Picchu within a 90 minute tour

- If you want to carry on two pieces of luggage but the airline only allows one; just set your other bag close by the queue line and when they ask about luggage only show them the one. Later, after you have your boarding pass, pick up your other bag and you will not be hassled again.

- My massage in Peru (this was a legitimate place) required that I strip naked in front of the masage therapist (who was quite attractive thank God) before laying on the massage table. Still, would that be a cultural thing or was I being played with? Oh, and for the record, nothing happened but damn she worked my glut muscles more than anyone I've ever been to. Hmmm...

- If there was a plane that was delayed, I was on it!

Glut muscles is what you call it?

Welcome back. Sounds like a great trip except for the bugs and snakes and such...so it sounds like a scary trip. Glad you made it back safe. Next time try less countries and more time =D
