Downtown Modernized

Yes, we are working our way through our theme of late...modernizing older songs. Today, a little hyper-sweet uppidy ditty from the 60s called Downtown. Here's the original:

When you're alone
And life is making you lonely,
You can always go downtown
When you've got worries,
All the noise and the hurry
Seems to help, I know, downtown

Just listen to the music of the traffic in the city

Linger on the sidewalk where the neon signs are pretty
How can you lose? The lights are much brighter there
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares and go
Downtown, things'll be great when you're
Downtown, no finer place for sure,
Downtown, everything's waiting for you

Ok, and here's the update:

When you’re alone
And life is making you lonely,
You can always go to the chatline
If you are ugly or a social reject
It won’t matter at all, at the chatline

Just make up a really cool alias and start yourself out typing
Bullshit with all the other crazies and pretty soon your griping
Damn what losers!

The people are much sadder there
Women without figures, men without hair
On the chatline, things will be weird
On the chatline, women with beards
On the chatline, be very scared

thanks for stopping by....sre you a "regular" or did you just happen upon me?

Man, I used to love that song, Downtown, but I think I like your version much better! you should have written the song for American Idol, cuz the one that was released as a single totally sucks. I love american Idol.

From one who likes to do parodies of songs or stories - that was hilarious and great!

You said so much better than Petulia Clark.
