Greetings from Africa!

You know...there are many I know that warned me that I shouldn't go given my history of being where natural disasters suddenly occur or other misguided problems happen. They thought it would be too risky given my karma.

Well, I'm here in an internet cafe to happily say that isn't the case this time around.

Yeah, the elephant charged our vehice, but it didn't tip it over...

Yeah, the cobra spit at me, but it didn't lunge for a bite...

Yeah, the leopard came out of the bush and walked right passed me as I was unwittingly peeing, but it didn't eat me...

Yeah, the clutch went out in our vehicle, but at least we weren't in the Serengeti at the time...

Yeah, the coconut dropped out of the tree and grazed my arm, but it didn't fall on my head...

So far...

- No getting on the wrong plane (I've done that twice)
- No hurricanes (I've been in those three times)
- No earthquakes (done that twice)
- No plane engines on fire (been there, done that)
- No delayed, cancelled or non-existant flights (happens to me all the time)
- No injuries, no diseases, nothing

Right now I'm heading to walk out into the Indian ocean and I'll be able to walk about a quarter of a mile to the reef in about waist deep turqouise clear water. Unbelievable. I've got to say that there are some stunning beaches here in Zanzibar. I currently look pretty much like my profile picture (minus the Howdy Doody box though); dark tan and enjoying every minute of the trip.

Lots of great material to share. I've taken about 400 photos so far. I'm off on an excursion tomorrow to some pristine unoccupied islands for a day of snorkeling and partying. God I hate my life ;)

Please post the Pics... I would love to see some, especially of the ocean. And if you see any wandering Giraffe's or Elephants. Elephants are my favorite!

I can see that I should have tagged you for that eight random facts meme. Sounds like you have some good stories. Can hardly wait to see the pics. I've heard Zanzibar is fabulous. It's on my list.

How can the islands be pristine if they have excursions there?

Sounds like you've had an extraordinary run of good luck -- and a great time. Can't wait to see some of those 400 pics.

ellie - I will definitely post some next week. I didn't bring the download connector on my trip so you'll have to wait. I have one with about 30 giraffe all in a bunch (is that what you call them when they are together)? I also have some of a new born elephant with its family.

carla - Tag away! I'll be posting for awhile on this subject...at least for a week until my trip to Aruba and Venezuala.

suz - Yeah, you got that right! I've got to be pushing my luck now.

iamnot - I'll have a fruity rum drink just for you! You can slam on my lame tourist shots next week too.

jenny - It wouldn't do any good; I might even begin to see things more clearly!

camille - They'll be coming next Monday.

Kurt - Leave it to you to point that out. Well Mr. Nasayer, they were hand carved boats and catamarans and they sailed them over to the islands!! Besides, they only take about 40 people per day.

sj - You've no idea. Something always happens on my trips. It's a bit unnerving right now because as Suz pointed out, I'm not yet done.

It sounds just like that episode of the Brady Bunch with the cursed statue whose evil power was only strong enough to make bad things almost happen.
