More Cats (no not the broadway musical!)

If you want to get an idea of the Serengeti, just watch Disney's "The Lion King". They certainly did their homework. It totally looks like pride rock everywhere! Oh, and you have to be careful not to be tempted to step out onto a rock for a photo because you never know what you might find on the rock already. This lion was just sitting there observing things out in the field.
Now what could she be looking for? Was an internet date showing up? Kids out playing in the grass?
Perhaps she was shopping for lunch because here's what I saw of her view.
Now the other big cat in Africa is the Cheetah. I was fortunate to have several Cheetah sightings although this particular encounter was about the clearest in pictures. It was a family of Cheetahs resting under a tree.

I was very fortunate to see a baby Cheetah. Our driver said that Cheetahs have to gulp their meat from their kill because they don't have a lot of time to eat. Unlike the lions, Cheetahs will have their kill taken from them by hyenas if the do not eat quick enough. See mom, I'm not the only one that inhales my meals. If its good enough for nature, its good enough for me!
A little bit blurry, I think this particular one looked a bit too hungry or pissed off for my tastes. Perhaps that is why it was blurry...I was too busy running away.
Oh, and back to lions again. On my last day, we stopped along this watering hole and found a male and female lion just lying right there not five feet from us in complete open area. They were both sleeping.
The male lion briefly turned around, opened his eyes to see who the hell it was and promptly went back to sleep. I was fortunate to get this great shot when he did.
I learned that these two lions were on honeymoon. No wonder they looked so tired LOL!!!

I'm loving all the pictures. Vicariously is, alas, probably as close as I'll ever get to Africa.

Me once heard that lions sleep fer 16 hours a day and spend the rest of the time eating food that the lady lions kill and humping their harem. Tell me again why you left the Serengeti?
