The Fastest Growing Employee Rec Sport

When the major sports and marketing company in the local area moved employees off their extremely nice world headquarters and into some “for lease” buildings down the road, it was promised that they would think “outside the box” for ways to make it up to the employees.
Now granted you and I cannot appreciate just how much of a step down it is for employees to get moved from this:

to just a plain old building with a parking lot. But these being the technical folks (computers..you know…) they got together and strategized on ways to make these employees feel happy and proud of their new work home.

This is what they came up with:

Yes, their ingenious skills must have honed in on their hidden desire to play horseshoes at lunch. It won’t take any time at all for these employees to start group tournaments and challenge other off-campus buildings until it eventually culminates with the professional horseshoe association holding their annual tournament right there in the field next to the parking lot.

They are so clever to allow space for lots of grandstands to watch the exciting event and still have the parking lot for tailgate parties on the other side.

Meanwhile, they’ve really put their attention to detail and made the horseshoe pits feel like an old country picnic setting with their rustic primitive look and feel. It really feels as if 90 year old relatives were playing. I think this will surely encourage employee picnics just like in the days of old…

God bless the innovative process that comes out of committees!

I guess they are thinking of their employee's health. The fresh air would be good for the geeks who never leave their chairs to see the light of day and a round of horseshoes would be efficacious in eradicating carpal tunnel syndrome. STOMP!

Man, big time athletic company went all out. Ask for a tetherball next.

The employees will have fun with the horseshoes -- until they start throwing them at each other. I see plenty of room for croquet, volleyball, badminton. Polo. They could even put in a pond and give employees an opportunity to catch their own lunch.:)

Atleast they don't have to mow the lawn too.

py - Wow, fresh air and proactive carpal tunnel avoidence. What a concept for the geeks!

suz - I know, they were bummed about the tetherball not going in. All that training gone to waste...

sj - Damn girl, you've got committee management potential! Croquet is such a skill sport. I like the idea that they could save money and elimanate the cafeteria inliue of a fix-for-your-lunch approach. Very Dilbertish!

Maybe they'll have fun if they stand the boss in one of those pits and throw the horseshoes at him.
