Blog Lingo

Don't forget to enter your picture into the anti-caption contest. Refer to the post from Friday. You've got until this Friday to send me a pic, link a photo, or just spell out the address in the comments. I'll post a voters poll on Friday to pick. Meanwhile, here's your usual fantasical nonsense...

Like everything in this world nowadays, blogging has its own lingo. Until you simply learn it, it’s a confusing and foreign world for newcomers.

Meme – I thought this was some stuttering narcissist that kept interfering with people

Blogroll – I wasn’t sure what was going on here. Either it was something I should be ordering from Krispy Kreme and eating while I enjoyed reading posts, or it was some strange child-like activity that bloggers had invented that involved rolling around.

Podcasting – Was this the hiring of extras for the Invasion of the Body Snatcher movie? Fly fishing in your cubicle? It baffled me…

Feed Reader – Those that eat their lunch and/or dinner while reading their favorite blogs?

Flame – A romantic blogger interest? A hot topic? Are we moths in this scenario? So confusing…

RDF – Really dumb fiction? Requires dental floss? Roman donkey fun? I’m at a loss…

Blogosphere – OMG, are pixels slowly disappearing due to global warming? Damn, isn’t anything safe?

Drive-by Blogging – I don’t know; I envisioned this kiosk similar to the banks where you drive up and enter your blog post while you check your bank balance, get some cash, and order stamps. I know, what was I thinking....I mean really...who uses stamps anymore...

BLogroll just sounds perverted to me.

What about "Blogger?" It sounds like a video game. Great, now that stupid song is going to be in my head all day.

I want my own stamp; something positive like "Approved".

People love to be validated right?

Let's get to the bottom of this once and for all.. is it "meme" as in "cream" or "me-me" as in "pee-pee"? I've heard it used both ways.

I like to eat chocolate frosted "Blogrolls" while I'm Feed Readin'.

It took me a long time to catch on to the rudiments of blog lingo. Some of it, I still don't get. I don't know what an RDF is or how Feed Reader works. And what do pods have to do with broadcasting? I do think it must have something to do with body snatching.:)

Never heard of RDF, but I've only had a proper blog for three months.

If a blogroll were a pastry, I think it's be more of a Panera Bread item, and very cheesy and garlicky.

I always thought meme was pronounced like pee-pee, like saying "Me! Me! Me!" Makes sense. But I saw somewhere that it's supposed to be "meem" which makes no sense at all.

Tonight I heard about 'splogs' and I read it wrong and thought the person was talking about something else....
