Fun with Paintings

The problem with me is that I find something funny in just about everything. Oh sure, it's great for blog material. But I do like to keep my blog as original, creative, and me as I can. I typically don't like to steal ideas or material (although pictures are free game if used for an original intent).

But on occasion, I'll see something that is not only funny, but I think, "Hey, I should try that too, it looks like a lot of fun." Usually I read your blogs and think, "Damn that's funny...now why didn't I think of that."

So, when I read Jeffrey's Blog The Stinker, he had this great post on taking some paintings and putting funny words to them. I asked him if I could use the idea and after several payment negotiations (kidding), he said ok.

I thought, "Why not go right for the biggies. Some of the most famous paintings in the world. Surely they're big enough to take a VE trashing..." Here are the results:

Just click on any of the paintings if you can't read my captions. Enjoy.

Reminds me of a scene from the movie The Whoopie Boys. If you haven't seen it, you should.

nyd - Damn, you have me stumped on that movie...and I see a LOT of movies. Sounds like I have a movie assignment.

jeffrey - I don't know...the farting one you had was pretty funny. How can one not win with farting?

I think you could definitely do more of these.

In answer to your question, simply place $4 in an envelope and mail it to me. Your sample copy and subscription info should arrive shortly. You'll have to contact me offblog for address information.

kurt - Yes, I probably will have a follow up to these at some point. They're fun to do. Ok, I'll try to contact you offline because your comics are funny...I've seen samples.

I think you are having waaaaaaaaaaaay too much fun! :)

teri - I know. Sometimes I just crack myself up...don't even care if somebody else finds something funny. Talk about self entertainment.

Ha!....I love the first one. Exactly how I feel about the upcoming election. May I borrow that picture some time for an upcoming blog post?

A+++++ post! Thank you for the laugh, but you owe me a new keyboard and Diet Coke.

PS- most of the time when reading here I say to myself "Damn that's funny...now why didn't I think of that."

VE said...

jacki - Sure. Borrow away. I borrowed the whole post theme anyway. I thought that fitting for a painting called "The Scream".

kan - Thanks. It's always like that, isn't it though? Everyone has their own spin on creative and funny.

I'll never look at American Gothic the same way again...

VE said...

suburbancorrespondent - Yeah, Jeffrey sort of started that trend. I'll never be looking at paintings the same way again...now I'll be adding jokes to every one of them.

the caption to 'the scream' perfectly captures my feelings on the political situation. i loved that. can i steal that (provided i give you credit)? lesse what i have of value to negotiate licensing fees....looking around desk...i got a stuffed armadillo, an empty bag of mrs. may's vegan and gluten free cashew crunch, an old copy of sky mall, a pack of shick silk effects razors...whaddya say?

the rest of them were just hilarious!

Dale said...

Excellent captioning you big stealer. Love the last two especially.

VE said...

lime - Wow, a stuffed armadillo is tough to pass up but I'd hate for him to miss you so steal away for free...

dale - I figure with over 100 million blogs out there, everything has probably been done anyway...

VE said...

justacoolcat - Poop jokes are a pretty safe bet though. Hard to go wrong with those.
