Fun with Albums

Ok, we are done with bad albums now, but I'm not done with albums entirely...

Albums had way more space for their cover art than CDs do. That’s too bad. I really liked some of the cover art albums used. It hasn’t gone away, but the palette is smaller now.

I thought it would be fun to take some classic album covers and mess with them. But you knew I’d find that funny, didn’t you? As always, click on any of the photos if you want to see them bigger.

Enjoy…

1. Beatles – Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band

With the whole Paul/Heather thing lately, I thought this album would be the first bit of fun…

2. Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here

A strange and classic album cover to begin with. Why not continue the strangeness…

3. N.W.A. – Straight Outta Compton

I know, it’s RAP. But this is considered one of those classic album shots. Plus, it’s so fun to mess with RAP…

4. Nirvana – Never Mind

Truly one of the most classic album covers. Well…until I got to it that is

5. Prince – Purple Rain

You couldn’t escape the 80s without it. Time to pull you back with the help of a classic Star Trek character…

Wondering what VE did to these? Just Google Image search on the album name...

What's a Google image search?

Those are sooooo funny. I'm going to look that up.

You are way more silly than you should be allowed to be. :)

LOL, the Purple Brain one is priceless. Is that the egghead alien dude from the "Christopher Pike" episode of Star Trek?

Those are all brilliant, but I like the Beatles one best. I mean, what could beat a Lonely Farts Band? Of course, lonely farts are definitely preferable to farts in company.

Kurt - Rather than searching for web site content, you can search just photos. It's another link on their main page.

we are that family - They were fun to mess around with

Teri - I couldn't resist the urge

jeffrey - Yes, good catch!

theresa - I wondered if anyone would catch that change. Good one!

i'm frightened. that last one could be a metaphor for my marriage. i am a prince fan married to a trekkie.

lime - See how I affect and destroy lives ;)

you are the BEST!

My favorite is definitely the NWA cover. I can just imagine Eazy E held down by the man over his polynomials and factorials.

VE said...

leelee - Why thank you!

what's a donzer - Well polynomials are life and death aren't they? Did you notice I threw OJ on there? Where there's violence, there's OJ...

I came to leave a funny comment, read your first one by Kurt, and cried.

Hi, my name is Marnie and I'm a google whore.

VE said...

queen goob - Hi Marnie. Don't worry about Kurt...I suspect he's just messing with me. You never can tell with Kurt. I'm a google gigolo too!

leelee said...

Hello Google Ho heah!

VE said...

leelee - I was actually using Google when it first came out in 1997 and most people were still using Yahoo. A friend of mine found it and I'd told me about it. I never looked back.

Well, if the shark eats that baby, it'll be his own fault for dangling his worm like that.

VE said...

bee - And that's what he gets for chasing after consumer products...

sprinkle4 said...

Okay, the Pink Floyd one is my favorite (mainly because when I was 14 I would not have understood the joke and now.......well, let's just say I know the feeling:))

Lonely Farts? I prefer mine to have company.... a friend or two, mayhap to begin a spontaneous jam session.

leelee said...

OK so you've been googling longer than me..so then perhaps I am a google ho wanna be..

VE said...

sprinkle4 - That's funny. I never got that album cover anyway, why not change it... Now as to Lonely Farts...there is that song on the album - Fixing a Hole! ;)

VE said...

leelee - No, doesn't matter how long you been a hoin' as long as you keep goin'

LOL!!! These were great! You had me laughing so loudly, our cats and dog were looking at me like I was a crazy woman!

You are clever! Love this post, VE!

LOL! You have way more fun than any human ought to be allowed to have.:-)

VE said...

c - Cats and dogs ALWAYS look at me that way

uncivil - Where on Earth did you find that? Too funny.

sj - It's true...and addicting. That's why I avoid work. What's fun about work?

Marie said...

Next time I need something photoshopped I know who to ask.

VE said...

marie - And though I love to make 'em, they are just a pain in the rear sometimes.

RED MOJO said...

Very Funny as usual, love the Nirvana one!

VE said...

red mojo - They were fun to make although the Purple Brain one took awhile...that's a hard font style to recreate.

Beth said...

Well done.
Wish I had a mind like yours. My world would be far more interesting - or something...

The Heathers and the poor Nirvana baby are my favourites. You can't spell evel without VE (or something like that).

VE, forgot to tell you that I've got a contest on right now. It's not as cool as any of Diesel's contests, but the prize is pretty neat.

EmmaK said...

Funny...lonely Farts Band...old Macca should count himself lucky. If he wasn't a squillionaire he wouldn't be having women chasing after him at his age what with his saggy chops. I mean what Mills lacked in leg she made up for with huge breasts.

I seem to recall someone had redone and made up some album covers then placed them in a record store. This guy bought them and brought them to the Antique Road Show. The work could not be valued, but it was quite interesting. I remember some were painted, some were done in color pencil.

VE said...

beth - Or it would just be full of these goofy things

dale - Good point. You can't spell boweevel without VE too!

c - Ooh, a contest? I'll check it out! I'm good at losing but placing well. If I'd have been in the Olympics I would have gotten a record number of fourth places...

emmak - I read the whole divorce document. It was funny to read. She's quite the demon! But you're right about them chops. Yikes. Yes probably wishing it were "Yesterday" now...

todd C - Doesn't surprise me; it seems like it's own mini-art form and there's always been occurances of artists slipping their work into places. ps - I really like your posts by the way. Some of the art you feature is very inspiring. I can be creative at silly juvinile humor but that is the real deal.

My fav is N.W.A.....straight outta downtown DC.

Nice job....well done. :-)

VE said...

jacki - Yeah, I should've changed the city...

I'm just commenting to move up on your sidebar thingie. :)

elastic - Tricky...very tricky

I want to send you some of my husband's old heavy metal album covers. I think you could have lots and lots of fun with them.

(LOVE Purple Brain!! And I almost choked on a corn chip at the Pink Floyd album.)

I really dont understand the popularity of prince. But I'd certainly have bought the purple brain album.

...And let me introduce to you...The one and only Billy Shears...!!

Your Purple Rain Cover cracked me up, I do indeed remember that Star Trek episode...
Thanks for the memories...G

Matt-Man said...

Ha. As a big fan of the original Star Trek, I truly appreciate the last cover VE. FUnny. Cheers!!

VE said...

jess - Heavy Metal is sooo tempting. I'd be like a kid in a candy store

alex l - I don't either. He had one song I liked; I think. But the Star Trek guy, he's always cool.

lakota - Coffee snorting is my goal in life!

g-man - And VE's shears did a mess on that album cover!

matt-man - How can you go wrong with a big veiny brain villian from the original Star Trek?

Yes, my name is Arizona said...

I love the Beatles album cover!!

VE said...

arizona - That was the first one I worked on. I had a lot of fun doing that one.
