Not your Average House

You know, having just built my own house (ok, I didn’t actually build it…I just paid for it) I can appreciate that one can be quite creative in what they live in. I applaud the divergence from the typical model homes stamped out endlessly. Let’s examine:

Now this first one was either first on the block and got bullied or was last and was determined! Needless to say, there apparently weren’t a lot of housing codes to be followed in this town…

What do you think…an overpaid musician? Just a guess…

It looks more like an office building to me but I’m secretly hoping that dragon is a giant slide (water or not) to get down!

Why be conventional? It’s a human desire in many to stand out from the crowd. This person achieved that…

My dream as a raging hormonal teenager was to live under a lady’s skirt too! This guy just took it to the next logical step.

I don’t know either but it’s easy to find…

Located in Holland? Another guess…

A bit of a new take on the round or dome home…

Again, conventional things such as walls and windows don’t need to adhere to the usual. Anything is subject to interpretation.

And you don’t even have to stop at houses to look for a new take on an old theme…try the tree house:

The second to last is actually pretty cool. I'd buy it.

I think I've seen that first one here in Palo Alto; it was going for $1.4 million.

I lived under a woman's skirt once...All I got for my troubles was a huge, over-blown mortgage payment and syphillis. Cheers VE!!

I've seen the dome home in Pensacola, FL. It was built to withstand even a Cat 5 hurricane. Even so, I'm out if a Cat 5 is heading toward me!!

jacki - I would think you'd have a lot of people peeking in the window with a house like that though...

roy - Are you kidding me? Well...Palo Alto...never mind. Hey, didn't I say the Beavs could win that game? Ok, maybe I said it sarcasticly but I did say it!!

matt-man - Ha! Syphillis? Must have been a commune! ;)

incredible woody - That makes sense. I've personally been through two Cat 5s (and I don't even live where they have hurricanes) so I can say...yeah, avoid them if you can!

Wow I kinda like that rainbow colored one. Howl's Moving Castle!!

megan - Well it's definitely eclectic. Again though...a bit too much attention for me to live there.

I love the round one
I met some ppl once who are planning to move into a circular home. I wonder where the dust will gather/

LOL @ VE - was there ever any doubt?

VE said...

gc - Yeah, it might be a bit hard to send your troubled child to the corner! And what do you do with a corner hutch?

roy - Doubt is for the weak! I love seeing the mighty fall...

I guess in that last one you'd have to bolt your kitchen appliances and any furniture to the walls? Hmmm. Seems like alot of trouble to me. :-)

evil genius - I thought it was for the kids so they could run around like hamsters...

I love the tree house, but can't decide if it looks like an eyeball or a nipple.....

VE said...

arizona - I saw eyeball. If it's a nipple then it wasn't very cold out in this forest when the picture was taken! ;)

My house is a lot like no 1.

bitchlet - At 19...everyone's house looks like this!

Thank you for scouring the Innernet for these interesting photos.

VE said...

kurt - I'm here for you! If you need photo scouring, I'm your guy...

I want mine to look like a castle.

Or I could just have an actual castle.

Either would be fine.

Call me crazy, but I just love that teeny-tiny little house. I'm looking for a place for just me and the dog and I'm finding the prices to be WAY higher than I was expecting. If only I could find a cheap castle...

You're missing this one:

mj - Castles are hard to find in suburbia...

serena - Only problem is that it costs over a million!

padraig - Now that one is truly weird. I really don't want a stuffed bear clutching for me as I watch TV and eat camp rations...

That first one looks like it was a rich man's dog house. And I want a dragon slide on my house. Way cool.

I want the dragon house...NOW!

How did you get that picture of my house? And you're wrong, I've never been overpaid.

Quickroute said...

I'm with Jacki - second to last wins

Bee said...

I looked and looked but I couldn't find a link to a house here in Chi-town that is surronded by skyscrapers. It always cracks me up when I see it.

I love these pictures!!
The last one is my dream tree house.

The one above it makes me dizzy.

VE said...

carla - Well who WOULDN'T want a dragon slide going down their house?

colby - I tried that. Dragons don't really listen...

jeff - That says Minnesota all over it, doesn't it? Sorry... I've been documenting your doings to Homeland Security. They pay pretty good these days...

quickroute - It starts to look normal after a few fruity rum drinks though

bee - I think I've heard about or seen that somewhere too.

chris - Have some fruity rum drinks, the second to last one will start to look better. Yes...the tree house is out there in design, isn't it?

Alex L said...

I'm with you to in hoping that dragon is a slide, wouldnt want to go in it on a hot day though, be like a really fast sauna.

Dude, these pics are amazing. Where in hell did you *find* all of these?

VE said...

alex - That might feel good. I could use a hot sauna about right now...

jeffery - You need a large research staff that is willing to work for nothing...

I wanna live in the shoe! Hmmm ...I can call Sholls and get a special made odor eater and gel souls! I be gellin!

VE said...

dee - Yeah...I was hoping it didn't smell like a shoe. But Gel floors would be very cool!

Maureen said...

Well, at least the shoe wasn't a dammed "Croc"... that would be even worse.

The others look like something from a nightmare.

VE said...

maureen - Good point. I would think a Croc shoe house would have problems in the rain though...
