Happy Thanksgiving - Why I am Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Here are a few things I am thankful for...

I’m thankful that I don’t have rickets! I have no idea what they are but it doesn’t sound good so for that I am thankful.

I’m thankful for instant pancake batter. It was so trying having to mix dry pancake mix and liquid together. Stirring and stirring. And the clean up. I have better things not to do all day…

I’m thankful for global holidays and inept middle managers that have no idea what is going on. As a result I only have to work one day per year but get paid for the whole year.

I’m thankful for diplomatic immunity. I don’t have it but I’m hopeful. Then I’ll get that sports car!

I’m thankful for spell check and grammar check. Without it you would have never made it this far into the post.

I’m thankful for Wikipedia. It helps me understand everything even if it isn’t necessarily always true. Fits right in with history!

I’m thankful for seedless grapes and watermelon. Because spitting seeds is an ugly habit. I’m also thankful I don’t know how they make them seedless or what the implication to genetic reengineering are in the long term.

I’m thankful that Elvis is still secretly alive and finds time to surf

Happy Thanksgiving, VE. I am thankful for FROZEN pancakes. There's no mess, no clean-up, and it's impossible to screw them up.:)

I'm thankful for the fact that I cannot cook. So I only get asked to bring peas and corn. Open a can and voila! My contribution to Thanksgiving dinner.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I make my pancakes from scratch... I use pancake mix for muffins.

Ah yes, the King, he is multitalented indeed.

Batter Blaster - LOL! Holy crap, that's as bad as the prepared pancakes in the frozen foods section. We'll cook a squab for 6 hours, but a 15 second pancake? No way, man!

You think those products are cool shortcuts? You should see what I'm going to try this year... liquid turkey in a bottle! I'll let you know how it turns out.

Happy Thanksgiving VE. I too am thankful for your fantastical nonsense.

serena - Ha ha...a bit hard to melt butter on frozen pancakes...oh wait, you probably defrost them too...duh! Happy Thanksgiving!

incredible woody - I am thankful you don't cook either. We non-cooks have to stick together. Happy Thanksgiving!

anndi - I've seen your cooking on your blog! You don't need instant! Happy Thanksgiving!

roy - Yeah, same principle as driving 10 miles to get Tomato soup on sale for 12 cents lower. You spent way more on gas doing so! Happy Thanksgiving!

eve - You cookin' a Turkey, hon? Save a drumstick for me. I can't find our rock band drumsticks... Happy Thanksgiving!

jeff - Ha ha. I guess that would leave more room on the plate for yams and other odd stuff. Come, let's toast our liquid Turkey! Cheers! Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm thankful for the Blogsphere. Without it, I wouldn't have any kind of life.

Not really but sometimes I wonder.

I'm thankful that I just pulled all the meat off the turkey carcass and sent it home with my mother-in-law (She uses it for soup). Yee-haw!

Happy Thanksgiving. And to think, before I read your blog, I didn't even know that premixed pancake batter existed. Oh, the things that I'm missing out on.

Ha! I'm ashamed to admit it but I have actually used that pancake batter that you add liquid to and shake. Bought it when my son was a teen so he could help out and that was a quick and easy thing for him to make. And easy for me to clean up!!

I hope you're having a wonderful Thanksgiving VE!!

Spitting seeds is one of my favorite things to do. Only, I haven't done it since my son turned 3 because I am afraid he'll try it and choke. Such is the life of a parent....

reforminggeek - Yeah, I hate when carcasses build up and you can't get rid of them. That one from 2004 is getting kinda dry... Happy Thanksgiving!

carla - And you're the better for it! ha ha Happy Thanksgiving!

giggle pixie - Well, anything you can do to stem a teen appetite is ok with me. Happy Thanksgiving!

arizona - Yeah, I didn't say it wasn't fun...just an ugly habit. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving has been over for eight minutes, but my stomach hasn't figured that out yet.

There is no way we are having pancakes this morning, that's about all I can say.

Cheers, VE! I am truly thankful for this blog, and for the mind behind it...

Please can you remove The Cult of Qelqoth from your blogroll? Since it got bought out, that domain has just been used to display contextual ads.

See, I don't mind if you link to my new site or not...but the less traffic that bastard gets, the better. Thanks.

Aerosolized pancakes - yum! No maple-flavored spray syrup?

Happy post-Thanksgiving!

I'm Thankful for beer
I raise a glass or two to it every day

VE said...

megan - Sounds like somebody took stuffing as a challenge! ha ha I did have thirds this year. Ugggh
Happy Thanksgiving!

qelqoth - Thanks for reminding me. What a bummer about that. I've linked your new blog address and changed the name. Happy Thanksgiving!

deb - Yeah, they probably have the maple flavoring right in the spray itself. Happy Thanksgiving!

quickroute - And that lifting of the glass, that's good exercise. You get points for that on Wii Drink! Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm thankful I've got a good weekend ahead of me :-)

Are you sure you don't have the rickets?

MJ said...

Great list. You should also be Thankful that you aren't a turkey... in the literal sense anyway.

VE said...

chris - That's all you need! Well, that and a good brew...
Happy Thanksgiving!

kurt - Welcome back from your world travels. You know...I'm not so sure I don't have rickets since I have no idea what they are...
Happy Thanksgiving!

mj - For that I am quite thankful and particular when I was gnawing on a leg yesterday! Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm thankful for you and my other bloggy friends VE. Thanks for keeping me giggling throught the year.

I haven't had pancakes in years..but I am thankful for the often overlooked beauty and simplicity of toast....wheat, white or rye...its all good.

HUGS!!

VE said...

leelee - Bread is simple. Toast is complex...they can never make a good toaster!

I'm thankful Canada spreads out the holidays more than you guys; we had our last big turkey day in October. Now I am ready for another one in December... and cranberries... and pie.... stuffing... gravy. Oh crap. I have to go make dinner now. I'm starved.

I'm thankful for that "Amazing!" product as well. I think you should cut the red "Amazing!" part of the image out and have a "mazin" award. It's the only part that's underlined.

VE said...

maureen - Yeah, we're terrible at Holiday planning. We got nuthin' from mid January until late May. Well, ok, Easter is in there but we don't get an extra day for that!

justacoolcat - While it is amazing, the product itself has the word "organic" underlined. What is organic about a can?

Batter Blaster is now available in my local super market.
The boys are after me to buy some...I think I'll have to try it and produce a review.

Dee said...

i'm thankful for seedless grapes too!

VE said...

iamnot - Tell me when you do. I gotta see that...

dee - They're a big hit. I wonder if they even sell the other ones still. It would be sort of retro now.
