I'm sitting here watching The Wiggles with my kids (a show I hate, but endure) and now reading that Bambi and Thumper are both dinner is too much for me to take. I'm going to need a glass of wine to make it through the day now....maybe 2 glasses....
I have a herd of deer that hang around outside my back door. They hang out there because when my kids were here they fed them apples. One night as we were dining on venison stew I explained to this group of twenty-something city kids what venision was. The looks on thier faces was priceless. Oh they finished the stew they just said thank you to bambi's brother the next day as they were feeding him apples.
angie - Yes...I tried to find one and then tried to find a generator to make one and in the end I had to do it all myself. Seems like that's always the case...
anne - Well one out of two isn't bad. I'm gonna send this menu down to the Vegan convention...
bazza - Can't live forever...
teri - There you are! It's been forever. I need to stop on by your blog too...
gladys - It's amazing how many city people don't really get what venison is
chris - Well after eating too much Bambi I had a bit of indigestion so I guess so... ;)
incredible woody - You knew it was going to end poorly if it's on this blog...
kan - Yeah, this sappy picture thing came to me as one of those viral email deals and I just couldn't resist putting my own twisted spin on it...
I love your blog and I think you would appreciate my sense of humor. If I link to your blog on my blog is there any way you could return the favor? I think we could both get more exposure!
Check it out: Http://scottstipoftheday.blogspot.com
jaime - EVERYTHING tastes like chicken. I feel sorry for people who don't like chicken...
lime - You know...I have friends that live reasonably close to where you are so it doesn't surpise me a bit! ;)
scott - Bambi getting shot is what makes it so good and fun though. Don't listen to these 'poor bambi' readers! Ok, you'll be on my blog roll when I update it (weekly). The more you comment the higher up the list you go. I'll go check out your blog. You'd better be funny though (just kidding)...
giggle pixie - I had you at Rosemary Pote...didn't I?
beth - Ah, see, you know me too well. I just couldn't resist...
kurt - I'm guessing one of the following possibilities: a. You were bamboozled into thinking it was venison (no wonder it cost so little) b. You have no taste Buds...they were sold in the Budweiser takeover. c. You're telling the truth and NY venison has been genetically fused with NY beef. d. You're lying and trying to sucker me into to this fascinating event
MMMMM.....Rabbit is YUMMY! You ever go to the restaurant Zefiro in NW PDX, VE? They used to do a dish called Monsieur Henny. It was braised rabbit with garlic mashies. TO DIE FOR.
I miss Zef's. My ex used to work there so I got leftovers all the time. Plus the owners were awesome and they made our wedding cake for us. One of these days I gotta get to 23 Hoyt since Chris Isreal did the menu.
Oh try Hillsboro. Seriously a lack of good ones. I'd kill for a decent bistro style. There is a Cafe Mingo offshoot over here which is ok. On the other hand there is a killer Vietnamese place by my house.
This is just like the ending of bambi's mom. I am shedding some real man tears here VE. Tell me when you have grilled dalmations on the menu and I'll be there.
Megan said: "Can we go back to puppies and rainbows?"
I guess that would depend on what they taste like. Puppies would probably be tender, like veal, but I'm guessing they still could benefit from a good marinade.
megan - Sure does. Mine starts with V so I'm always last. And it works for me...
anonymous - You spammer! Damn you. I'll be posting about you...
blondeblogger - I have no idea about the sex snake. Sounds a bit disturbing. I think I'll post on that comment next week...
alex - Sorry it took so long...I was converting Thumper's feet into lucky key chains...
janna - But rainbows are just too syrupy for me...
reforminggeek - Drink more Mai Tai concoctions...that usually cures it...
yellojkt - You, you...carnivore! ha ha. Did you save the reindeer wishbone to pull with Santa?
matt-man - It's like a sauce...but all wrong because I didn't bother to check it when I made it. Sort of like those obnoxious bloggers that don't spell check very well...
I was tricked into eating deer meat in Denmark....Peter's step-dad is an avid hunter, so they always have enough deer meat to last through the winter. But rabbit...never tried it. Never will.
Awwwww! You had me ooooh-ing and ahhhh-ing at the cute photos...and then the venison and rabbit stew on the menu totally took me by surprise. I guess it shouldn't have surprised me though...coming from you :)
Back in the day when people blogged, I kept track of everyone that bothered to comment. Of course, nobody blogs anymore (okay, the couple of you that still do, you're like the "Road Warrior") so I have removed the blog roll sections.

OH NO! I felt all warm and fuzzy when I saw those pictures and then you RUINED it for me! Thanks! lol
I had some Bambi Burgers with Teriyaki Thumper Thighs just last night! Don't judge me.
Do they deliver?
LOL
I always thought those two were a little too close.
just jen - You knew I'd be up to no good...
roy - Mmmm...Teriyaki Thumper Thighs dipped in "secret sauce". I'm not judging...I'm mooching!
quirkyloon - They used to...but they ate all their delivery animals...
Are cute animals inherently more tasty than non-cute animals?
I like venison, but always found rabbit to be unexceptional. That might be because it's difficult to cook, though.

padraig - Sure they are. Just think how tasty Porky the pig would be as some bacon and ribs...
arizona - Ha! Four out of five alcoholics prefer VE's blog...
Did you make that menu up?
thumper, yes, babmi, no. although i do like rosemary.
A happy ending then.
HA! But of course! All good things must come to an end. ;)

it's all good and fun until bambi gets shot

Thanks so much
DOH!
I was enchanted, touched and wondering where the hell this was going - should have known...
I had a venison steak, and it tasted like beef tenderloin.
jaime - EVERYTHING tastes like chicken. I feel sorry for people who don't like chicken...

Sorry Thumper.
megan - Oh now Megan...you know how I like to visit the dark side sometimes...
starrlight - Yes, I have been there but never tried the rabbit. I did have it at Bread and Roses many years ago.
I miss Zef's. My ex used to work there so I got leftovers all the time. Plus the owners were awesome and they made our wedding cake for us. One of these days I gotta get to 23 Hoyt since Chris Isreal did the menu.
starrlight - Isn't it irritating that there aren't any good restaurants way out on the west side? It's practically all boring chain ones...
Actually I like venison and rabbit, but I still thought this was cruel and uncalled for. ;)
Oh try Hillsboro. Seriously a lack of good ones. I'd kill for a decent bistro style. There is a Cafe Mingo offshoot over here which is ok. On the other hand there is a killer Vietnamese place by my house.
AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
No, no, no -- say it ain't so! I think I'll just have a little ice cream for dinner.:)

Uh oh, has anyone told the people at Dinsney??
Oh no not poor Bambi and Thumper! say it aint true!
You, sir, are a bad man.
I like that.
unfinished rambler - You liked it, you liked it...
self-deprechaun - I have dalmation only in Korea...
jean - Sssh...PETA will hear you...
carla - You probably had a reindeer roast for Christmas... didn't you?
elizabeth - We're waiting for the sequel to break it to them...
gab - It ain't true. Could you pass the gravy?
chris - Some things...you just have to do...
You know, I totally was not thinking of it at the time, but starting my blog name with an "A" does have advantages...
sex snake? really? lol (referring to the comment above me which will probably be deleted and then mine won't make sense)
anyway, you're going to turn me vegan with this post! poor bambi and thumper! :(
Ok, so whens it ready, I'm hungry.

Poor wittle Bambi although venison sounds kind of good right now. I think I've had too much fish!
I had some very good Bambi at the Buckhorn Grille in Denver. I even had some Rudolph. Yummo!
HA. I need not say more. Funny. Cheers VE!!
Wait...I do have one question. What the hell is a savory gray "suace"? Cheers!!
megan - Sure does. Mine starts with V so I'm always last. And it works for me...

jacki - They tricked you huh? Probably disguised it into a hot dog, didn't they? Nobody ever knows what's really in hot dogs...
Parts. That is what is in hot dogs. And we all know, Parts is parts!
do you know I've never seen the Movie Bambi? Another testament that I never had a childhood.
starrlight - So that's why they are goo for parties...
dee - Did you live in an Amish community as a child? I'll give you the rundown...everyone dies in it! (just kidding)
What's up with the 2 cous's on a bed? What kind of place is this?
jeff - French of course!
What is up homie V E!!!
HEW - Just sittin' at homie...
Awwwww! You had me ooooh-ing and ahhhh-ing at the cute photos...and then the venison and rabbit stew on the menu totally took me by surprise. I guess it shouldn't have surprised me though...coming from you :)
P.S. The Bambi and Thumper thing...That's why I cannot bring myself to eat venison or rabbit. Gah.
c - Always expect that I'm gonne lead you astray...
Those darn disney movies. I'm still disturbed by "Old Yeller"
"Yeller, you’ve been so good to the family but you’re sick now
so we’re gonna blow your damn brains out!"
this was, like, sooo cute... til I got to the end and remembered who's blog I was reading...
uncivil - The Disney crew are cruel barbarians...
annie ha - You got it! ha ha
