VE's Third Annual Stupid Pet Costumes

It's an annual tradition here at Fantastical Nonsense to feature pets humiliated into participating in the human ritual of dressing up in costume for Halloween.

Yes, I've done so many of the classics over the last three years of this feature that I worried there weren't going to be any more great embarrassing costumes out there.

Fortunately, my fears were all for naught. I mean really...can you BEElieve this one?
You know what they say...crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside...

Luke...I am your cat...

Striking terror into all pet turtles near the water...

"Muffin" clearly wasn't happy about the news of having to split the treats three ways...

"I'll smile now...but there better be steaks in my bowl for the next month for this!"

You know...I Love Lucy too...I just don't love your pet dressed as Lucy and thrown into a makeshift TV...

Udderly ridiculous. Dogs can't fly...unless it's raining them...

Jacque Cousteau's dog, obviously...

Oh gawd, what the dogs in the US must live with...we do not celebrate halloween in DK. My dog is most grateful...

Dang it, I just missed it. I have truly been slipping up. Oh well.

God bless.

The turtle one wins, hands down. Jaws still scares me and no way am I going in the water with a turtle.

But these poor pets are so good to put up with their owners.

Plus my blog is now off of it's break and I finally put a new post up today.

I figured I had better come back, well you know since Kurt thinks he is leaving us. Which he had better stay since I have been sucked into OPE land.

If any of you have not visited Kurt, please go visit because right now we are all going on a trip to New Orleans with him. The people there speak French, and we do not understand them at all. And some don't take baths.

God bless.

i don't want to imagine the wrestling match necessary to put a cat into that darth vader costume.

the teeny flippers on the jacques cousteau dog kill me. that's just funny.

I don't understand dressing your pets in costumes, but I like the Taco Dog.

Wordless Wednesday - Now That's Scary

..and yet people wonder why dogs still attack people.

My dog LOVES her pirate outfit. Really, she does!

*snort*

Hilarious!

I admit I was a little confused with the first pic. A vampire dog bumble bee?

Look at his teeth! But aren't those vampy teeth upside down?

Just askin'?

hee hee

The indignity of it all - the owners should be reported to the SPCA!

(but I did smile a bit...)

Anne said...

I'm not a dog person, but these are kinda cute. esp, that dog in a turtle costume.

Bonnie the Boss said...

I feel so bad for all those dogs, but I do have to admit the taco costume is quite clever. I can't even imagine dressing up a dog. getting 5 kids into costumes is quite enough for me to handle this time of year!

Elizabeth said...

I think my dogs are very happy that we have a baby to dress up this Halloween!
(although I may still throw a bandana around their neck so they can be cowboys)

Jacki said...

The REALLY scary thing is that some people dress their pets up and then take them to photographers to get their picture taken. And they pay for it!!

Jacki said...

But the turtle one is actually pretty cute.

lifeshighway said...

The turtle one gets my vote. I am wondering if I can do something similar to my koi.

VE said...

monica - You must also have the happiest dogs in the world then too...

mrsupole - Yes, the shark turtle puts the fear in anyone. Oh, and don't worry about Kurt, he's messin' with ya... he's not gonna quit.

lime - Yes, you can see from the cats expression it certainly wasn't happy about the outcome...

nessa - Now see...you can't like one of them to help their cause! It is pretty funny though...

moooooog35 - In a lot of cases, don't you think they're doing mankind a favor?

incredible woody - Yes, I suspected as much...

quirkyloon - Ha! Only you would notice the vampire dog...

beth - Oh sure, enjoy them and THEN condem the practice.... ;)

anne - Ha! Dog in turtle costume...you crack me up...

bonnie - Just like the rest of us, eh? Feel bad but secretly think they're funny...

elizabeth - They're plotting to take her candy when you're not looking, you realize...

jacki - That is why the line "stupid is as stupid does" is still so pertinent...

VE said...

lifeshighway - Of course, if you ask them they'll say they don't want a costume, but they're just being koi... (sorry, couldn't resist)

No Ewwww this time around! No matter how many of these I see, they just keep getting better and better. Makes me want to go and humiliate my dog.

Gladys said...

Hey your talking about ME aren't you? :)

Brian Miller said...

taco dog and shark turtle are my favs...i think my cat would claw us to death in our sleep...

ReformingGeek said...

I bet you can't guess my favorite....

That's right. The cat. Duh.

The taco dog is cute, too!

Deb said...

Taco Dog wins in my book! Now you don't have to wonder what happened to Taco Bell's sleazy little spokes-dog. Crunchy on the outside...

Megan said...

I hope Kurt doesn't see this...

Jasmine said...

Very, very, very GOOD! My 3 year old daughter watched 'Beverly Hills Chiaua' recently and loved it. Of course she thought it was a cat! A dog wouldn't dress like that right? :)

Uncivil said...

Jacque Cousteau's dog looks like he might have seen the shark turtle?

Ronda Laveen said...

I'll have to share the taco idea with my friend. She has a pair of those little dogs. One's name is Taco and the other is Token.

Serena said...

Poor little critters. I can feel their embarrassment. Not that they'll remember it 3 seconds after they get a treat.:)

VE said...

perpetual chocoholic - You said EWWWWWW in your comment...I see it...

gladys - I only talk about you behind your back...

brian - You've found their secret plans too, eh?

reforminggeek - It's hard to top a cats disgust though...

deb - And soft in the middle..yumm...

megan - I know...that's why I'm sponsoring him on this trip to New Orleans...shhhhh

jasmine - Dog, cat, squirrel...as long as she liked it

uncivil - It is scary, huh? Sort of like when the republicans take back over...

ronda - The more the better. Misery loves company...

serena - That's the great thing about dogs. Of course, cats...they remember forever.

Janna said...

Ordinarily I hate pet costumes, but I guiltily admit that I, too, love the taco dog and the shark turtle.

*hangs head in shame*

The Silver Fox said...

If I tried to dress up my cat, Orson, he'd uncharacteristically open my face with his claws.

But I will add another vote for Taco Dog...

Susan Berlien (warmchocmilk) said...

Wow! Some people sure get creative....ha! Poor animals..

Kurt said...

Oh the humanity!

VE said...

janna - Yes, the shame...we all cannot resist.

silver fox - That Star Wars cat looks lethal; I wonder how many family members it killed before they got that costume on it

susan - These days there is creativity in everything it seems. From murals on buses to carving fruit and vegetables to this...thanks for dropping in.

kurt - Aack...you're supposed to be on vacation. I should have known you'd have some pet costume radar working...

Baino said...

Oooh harsh! C'mon now who doesn't like a Biggles Beagle!

Jaime said...

those are great. my favorite is the dog taco.

Starrlight said...

I love the two headed dog!

Sarah said...

We tried to dress up our cat once....there is a reason we didn't try again.
Luke I am your cat...lol!

VE said...

baino - Did you dress your dog up?

jaime - Makes me hungry for Mexican...

starlight - two heads are better than one...until you have to shave...

sarah - Cats just don't have the disposition that dogs do for such nonsense...

Maureen said...

My favorite is Cat Vader.... I know, shocked aren't you????

Gotta find that one for our black cat next year.

VE said...

maureen - I knew the cat vader would be your favorite. They should have actually cast a cat for the movie. They give such superior death expressions when in costume...

subby said...

Now I have seen it all. And did Taco Bell create that one?
