The Game - A Flash 55 Friday

Tossing a few blades of grass from his fingertips, he watches them fall. A light wind from the NW,” he mumbles as he surveys the green. “This calls for the double platinum solid gold performance putter.” The score is close and it’s a do or die moment.

Sometimes family putt-putt is a bit too serious…

I am terrible at putt-putt, but great at being first. Great Flash-55

God bless.

nursemyra said...

sounds like my ex husband tackling the ping pong table

Okay, so I voted, and since I have heard of them all, I had to vote for them all. But I guess living in California and having lived in SF for a while when I was a child, then I had better have heard of them all. Plus my grandma lived up there. I hope you are having lots of fun up there in SF. It is supposed to rain, so try to stay dry, although coming from Portland, you do know about rain.

GBA.

Remind me never to play putt-putt with you!

I have defeated my husband twice at putt-putt during our 20 year relationship. Every time we drive by one of his courses of defeat, I ask "Do you remember what happened there?" I think he appreciates it.

subby said...

I can hoestly say I've never played putt-putt...now bowling...heh, heh...

Along with Mrsupole, I voted for all the locations; even never having been that far west ( okay, so I have history books on the subjects, nyah! )

Quirkyloon said...

Nicely done! And you even managed to keep the "tiger" in the tank.

HA!

I've been to San Francisco twice; back in the seventies and then again when visiting Skywalker Ranch up the highway in 2005. My niece lives there now; beautiful city!

Oh and the only thing I hate about putt putt is they obviously don't design them for us southpaws; I often had to "tee off" standing in an awkward position. That's my excuse for sucking at it.

Sweet 80's reference to Solid Gold. I wonder if Marilyn McCoo plays putt-putt?

In highschool I went out with some guys who felt this way about mini-golf. It was like they were training for the pros.

I thought he was gonna use the 'Ole Billy Baroo'..

Excellent 55 VE!!
Thank you so much for playing today, thank you so much for your visit, and have a Kick Ass Week-End!

I got one. Ok, here goes.

He couldn't stand the words coming out of his mothers mouth any more. So he closed his eyes, put his fingers in his ears, and sang "la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la"

How was that?

PattiKen said...

Hey, everybody knows that golf is a serious game! Made me laugh. Thanks.

quilly said...

I know you well enough to know this wasn't going to be serious, but I still never anticipated miniature golf and seriously cracked up.

Mrsupole – I’m above average…which is to say I’m like everyone else…average

Nursemyra – Ex-husband? I thought I was the only man in your life. Just blow the fantasy! Ha! We had a ping pong table growing up…it’s a bit obsessive…

Mrsupole – That’s ok…if you’ve been there and know it all…vote away. We had beautiful weather Mon-Wed with temp in the low 70s on Wed. It was really foggy on Thu but we were up visiting my cousin the comedian. Today (Fri) we’re going to take it easy…we see “Wicked” tonight…

Brian – Don’t they all!

Chef kar – Good one…forgot about croquet. Why isn’t that an Olympic sport? I mean…curling is…

Catladylarew – It’s ok, I’ve been through years of therapy for it…

Incredible woody – Way to rub it in! Nice…

Subby – I would design a bowling alley like a putt-putt-course with wild designs…

Subby – That’s ok, if you’ve heard and know what they are, vote away!

Quirkyloon – Unless it’s Tony the Tiger…cause Frosted Flakes are delicious…and I’m hungry!

Maureen – Did I ever mention my job offer at Skywalker ranch? I turned it down because I couldn’t find an affordable house within 100 miles of the place…

Roy – You kidding…does Phil Specter use hair spray?

Elizabeth – Some people need to get a life…

g-man – Always a pleasure, my man!

Perpetual – Aww…so nice of you to throw me an Ewwwww anyway….

Mike – Excellent. I still do that….

Pattiken – Yeah, you have to be serious to want to chase a little ball after you hit it away…

Quilly – Caught ya, did I. I win! HA!

awesome. Family putt-putt.
hey...is this on the wii?

(actual putt putt might go the way of the drive in...)

Janna said...

I've never played golf, ever, not even putt-putt.
But if I did, this might be how I would end up. Depending on my mood, I can be the competitive type. :)

Other times I'm one of those annoying people who just doesn't care. :)

I guess either way, it would make me annoying. So there's a bonus.

Brian o vretanos said...

I couldn't tell the difference between a niblock mashie and a number three steam iron, but judging from the people I know who could, your description is spot on.

ReformingGeek said...

It's best if Tiger's wife and I stay away from clubs.

VE said...

Jenjen – It should be on wii if it isn’t. That way you can take the family competitive fiasco right to your home…

Janna – I’ve only played actual golf once but I know about your competitiveness from one of those word games on humorbloggers…

Brian – Well then I’m a good faker because I’ve played golf once…

Reforminggeek – Ha! Yes…that’s good advice…

absolutely love it! i don't think i could ever do one of these as well as you!

Jaime said...

hey, family putt putt is serious business! my sister and i have almost come to blows over some close matches

Mama Zen said...

Hey, putt-putt is serious business!

Great 55!

Uncivil said...

I play golf once every 20 years whether I need to or not!

Gladys said...

I knew Tiger was on a new circuit.

Chris C said...

You call it putt-putt? Never heard mini golf called that before.

We have pitch-and-putt too which is like a course of par two holes. But that's more of a Penn/Jersey thing.

VE said...

Alladinsane12 – Aww…their not too bad to do…nice and short…

Jaime – I blame the conditions if I lose…

Mama zen – You’re telling me!

Gladys – He needs to transfer to a new planet to start over…

Chris – I’ve heard of pitch and putt…I’m not sure where they started the putt-putt name…

Tom said...

i always got the orange ball.

Serena said...

Elegantly terse. Perfect!:)

VE said...

tom - By choice or as a prank?

serena - You're covertly saying I'm long winded normally, aren't you? ;)

Baino said...

There's grass on your putt putt course? Impressed.

Suzanne Casamento said...

That's awesome. Totally made me giggle. Just discovered a Flash 55 on someone else's blog and got to you. Love the concept!

The Silver Fox said...

I should try Flash 55 sometime, just to prove I could ever write anything that brief. Even my comments are often longer than that.

lime said...

LOL, too true. of course that type would always wind up playing with a doofus like me.

VE said...

Baino – The real serious competitors in the family bring their own clippings just for that occasion…

Suzanne – I like doing them; they’re short and sweet!

Silver fox – I’m not exactly a shining example of brevity either…but once a week I make an effort…

Lime – Sort of like Michael Jordon having to play two-on-two partnered with me…

The Silver Fox said...

Believe it or not, I already have one to post this Friday. There's no official Mr. Linky for this'un, is there?

VE said...

silver fox - I saw that!

JennyMac said...

Well done..I used to rule at putt putt. :)
