It's all gonna happen and you can't stop it!

Just when I approach burn-out and other suggest I go with fewer posts…

Just when friends like Jeff at View from the Cloud put their blog on hiatus when they’re unemployed because it is more responsible to focus on getting a job than blogging…

Just when readership hits an all time low…

For the rest of the month I’ll be doing daily blog posts!!!!

See…I’m crazy. I went the other way. But don’t worry…I have my purpose. I realized that something special could happen.

Monday, May 31st is Memorial Day. It also happens to be my fourth year anniversary for this blog. FOUR YEARS! Four years for a blog is like 270 in human years.

And that in and of itself is a pretty big deal but I also realized that not only will Fantastical Nonsense turn four on Memorial Day but that I could be celebrating my 1000th post on the very same day! That’s like having a snow day and getting laid! Wow! Ok, maybe I set the bar too high…but let’s have fun on the way to that event!

Now, since Kurt elegantly reminded me just once and then I proceeded to grind in the point until he quit blogging entirely…this is a humor blog….so here’s some humor…

Mom…I think you’ve overwatered the lawn…

Even in nature there are Mondays…

Bloggers are dropping like flies in my circles – nor am I as conscientious (committed?) as I once was. The nature of the beast?
Kudos to you for soldiering on toward the 4 year/1000th post mark!

And all this excitement happens just as I'm heading out for a 2-week camping trip. There goes my perfect attendance! Wonder if my campsite will have wi-fi?

I'm afraid I won't be here for the festivities either..heading to Vegas/Grand Canyon. Congrats on hanging in there...

HUGS!!

Future congrats on hitting #1,000 and four years. With all the unexpected( but thankful ) work I've been getting, it's keeping me away from some serious blogging ( which reminds me I really should answer all those comments )...which further means I'll be on hiatus...again...long term. But, of course, I'll still be able to get in my (now) daily dose of pure bloggy humour :)

Thanks...!

Huh! Somebody has a hard time job-hunting and blogging all in the same day? Isn't that kinda like walking and chewing gum at the same time? Just sayin'.

Keep up the good work, VE!

4 years? 1000 entries? Wow. I don't think I've done 1000 ANYTHINGS, least of all in 4 years. Congrats!

Mondays in nature? That's so ... unnatural.

That poor toad looks like one of those kids creatures you buy then grow in water.

It's hard to hit an all time low in readership when you don't actually have readers but somehow I've managed it;-)

Congrats and good luck you big nut!

*high five* and *fist bump*

4 freakin' years?
1,000 freakin' posts?

You are insane. I like that in a blogger. Hey, I'm a newbie so that should have upped your numbers. I may be invisible though. Hmmm, probably. Yesp, that's usually how I roll.

I haven't quit blogging. I simply repurposed my blog. It is now the internet presence of the zine Other People Exist.

so if you're going to be 4 and i am rounding the bend toward 5 how old does that make me in blog years?

ReformingGeek said...

Four years? That's amazing.

Be careful out there. Life eats bloggers.

Well I'm glad you're hanging around for a while. Everyone has their 'moments'

Beth – I think a lot of it is how much socializing you can maintain. If I had the time to regularly visit the 100-200 blogs I know I’d probably have 50 or so comments each post like I did when I was maintaining that many. It’s ok though…I figure those that enjoy reading here will still come even if I cannot come visit very often...

Incredible woody – You might stay perfect. Elizabeth was gone clear to China but she came back and commented on every single one she missed and they counted because I hadn’t updated the tally. I only update the tally about once a month now…

Leelee – No festivities really…just more humor. I’ll leave the 1000th up for a couple of days afterwards…

Subby – It happens. I maintained a high presence commenting everywhere for a long time. Rather than try and maintain that and completely collapse I’ve stayed close to just my blog and keeping that up…

Roy – It has been a tricky juggling act…

Sharonheg – Wow, you must not breath that often…

Chris – How else can you explain strange animal behavior?

Perpetual chocoholic – Yes, that’s like the album title “I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left”…

Cheryl – And thanks for keeping my numbers from total embarrassment! I am insane…but that’s the way my readers like me…

Kurt – Yes, we shall all hope to attain your level of transformation…and the last issue was excellent, by-the-way…

Lime – Let’s put it this way…I see Bingo and walkers in your future! ;)

Reforminggeek – Life…it’s a dangerous pursuit…

Baino – I had a TV moment the other week…we were out walking the dog and there were TV crews in our neighborhood and they couldn’t get anybody to talk about why they think housing was doing good in our neighborhood so I made up some BS and they put me on the news! That’s the fourth time I’ve been in the paper or the news for weird random things (and no crimes, either…go figure).

You're a wild man, VE. But I applaud you for being that wild man and taking "it" <-- whatever "it" is --> to the edge here in the "blogosphere." Keep on trucking, my brother.

As for not getting around to comment everywhere, I completely understand. I've become a little like you in that I try to comment on the blogs of the people who comment on mine first, and then get to the rest if and when I can.

Woo Hoo! Time to get this party started! Four years and 1000 posts at the same time is fantastic!

Janna said...

Wow. That reminds me that the Jannaverse will also be having its four-year anniversary this year too.

August 13, if I remember correctly.

We can be old together!

Although I haven't really been "burning out" lately, I have felt the great importance of keeping things in balance. I don't spend as much time online as I used to. Sometimes I feel guilty about that, because it means I can't keep up with as many blogs as I did before.
Still, I know if I kept up the pace I used to have a few years ago, I'd definitely be on my way to fizzling out.
I don't want to fizzle out, so I'm compromising by finding a balance I can live with.

In April 2010 I had 24 posts.
Comfy.
But back in May of 2007 I had 72 posts.
Three times as many. (!!!)
Plus I regularly posted on three other blogs too.

I have no idea how I kept it up for as long as I did.

I wish you success in finding your own balance too. :)

We'd miss you if you fizzled out.

Elizabeth said...

I hope you don't burn out. You say your reader ship is at an all time low, what was the highest you've had before??

Mrsupole said...

Well I just checked and I am half as old as you. Although I think I did not actually post anything for the first six or seven or is it eight months. I mean no one told me that I had to actually put something on there. I just thought it was so that you could put comments on the blogs of others. Then somehow I discovered that 'if you post then they will come'. It was amazing.

And my mojo only shows up a few days of the week now. I know it has to do with all those apps on my iPhone that I keep playing with, but what can I say, that dang iPhone is attached to me at the hip. I even have thought about possibly adding Twitter to it, and then sanity came back to me. Thank goodness it did, I would have been a goner if I had started to twitter or is it tweet, whatever. It is so nice to still have some sanity in my life.

Congrats on the almost 1000 and the four years. Wow you are so old!!!! Have you checked into the 'Depends' just yet. I have heard that when you make it to over 100 that you need to use them. And at 270, you must need them every minute or is it every second of the day.

God bless.

Unfinishedrambler – I understand, I’m ok with the traffic thing and realize it’s a lot to keep up with all of our blogs. I’m happy you get around here from time to time. I’ll try to keep pushing “it”…

Catladylarew – It feels like a nice four year milestone with the 1000 at the same time…

Janna – I find that too many posts are too much for most of my readers. Perhaps even five days a week is too much but that’s what I’ve been maintaining for a couple of years now. Yes, you’re right around the corner to four then! Wohoo!

Elizabeth – This time last year I averaged 4,000 visits per month, now I’m down to 1500 visits per month…

mrsupole - Funny...I started with a blog and then realized I could visit other blogs and leave comments...

The Silver Fox said...

Yep, whenever bloggers quit or go on hiatus now, it reminds me of my infamous " Epiphany" post.

Jaime said...

1000 posts. wow.

once upon a time i used to post every day. i just don't have the time or material to do that these days...

Anne said...

270 years?
no wonder I'm tired.

VE said...

silver fox - It's true. And way in the back of my polluted mind is an idea to take my material and use it for something that is more than just a blog...of course, that requires me to stop blogging to do it...vicious circle...

jaime - I don't have the time, I always have the material if I have the time. Writers block doesn't seem to affect me...that's the advantage of writing fantastical nonsense!

VE said...

anne - Feel old now? ;)

Roy Scribner said...

4 years? Wow, you must be extremely wealthy by now!

VE said...

roy - And popular...

Megan said...

I'm approaching three I think?

So it looks like I'm burning out early. :)

I'll come back, though.

Congrats on your Anniversary VE! I don't know how you do it. There is no way I can keep up with my own blog, my art blog, visiting others and do that other thing called "Living Life".

You're amazing.
