VE's New Dog

This week's Theme Thursday is PETS. Having just adopted a little black miniature schnauzer, I can relate to this theme.

Now the wifey-poo is a doggy expert. She's had three other mini-schnauzers before. But it took awhile to convince me. I'm an active guy and I was concerned that any dog we got wouldn't fit into my lifestyle. I mean, I was hoping for a dog that could waterski with me at the lake...

I like to ski in the winter. I want to be sure they can too...

Let's not forget the times at the beach surfing too...

Oh, and what about skateboarding with the kids?

And I definitely like to bike when the weather is nice so she had better learn to do that too...

I've always wanted to get into kayaking and should I do so, she had better be able to handle that as well...

I even expect her to go rock climbing with me. Hey, the answer is only "no" if you haven't tried. I mean...if this dog can do it, why not?

Of course, what really sold me on her though wasn't nearly as complicated as all of these sporting activities I didn't want to be prevented from doing because I now had a dog. No, what sold me was our last trip to Seattle when we were out walking with her and happened to pass by a restaurant with outside seating.

There were a couple of irritating guys seated with their dinner giving us the stink eye as they smoked on their cancer sticks to the irritation of all those around them. Our dog instinctively chose their table to do this in front of...

And I thought to myself, "yep, this is my dog. She knows how to get even!" Of course, we bagged the evidence and threw it away like good citizens but somehow I don't think their dinner was nearly as enjoyable after that and I doubt they gave any other dog owners the stink eye that evening.

That is the best trained dog out there. Glad you have a pet now and such a smart one at that.

God bless.

Hey, that last one is no schnauzer. Are you telling me you've never taken a picture of your own dog taking a dump? It's kind of a ritual.

There’s nothing like owning a dog who knows where and when to do his (or her) “thing.”
Such a sweet puppy!

Yeah, I can see how that could ruin anyones dinner.

As someone volunteering at an animal shelter now, I am glad to hear you adopted a dog.

I am not sure about schnauzers...I am a lab or German Shepherd kind of person.

But why would you think a dog would slow you down? Dogs love to be active.

You picked the right pet, didn't you? Heh, heh! Revenge is sweet!

The only sport my dog is good at is shoe chewing.

Your dog don't know shi... oh wait...

We're in the same boat, but so far it seems to be working out. The dog likes to camp and she keeps the kids busy.

OMG How hilarious!
I once had a large pit and I would allow her to poo in front of my neighbor's house because we were always feuding. Yes, I said it.
The neighbor eventually moved away.
Ha.

Crapping on command...yes! The perfect pup.

Great story. I think that sh*t detecting skill is much more valuable than waterskiing.

That is one cute dog, too!

Is picture #1 yours? Adorable! Dogs are natural-born comedians, have an innate sense of "justice," and are some of the best people around.:)

I hope that doggie got a doggie do (our word for doggie treats) for doing the doggie doodoo in front of the smokers. hey I'd rather smell dog shit than smoke.

Smart dog, and a fitting response to the "stink eye."

At this point, I guess my goal should be to write a book called The Oldest California Smoker Tells All...

catladylarew - And here you thought only a cat might seek revenge...

california girl - It's Lily...

anne - This one isn't too bad. No chewing, no slobbering, no shedding, no dog smell and she fetches!

I think the "Sit, Ubu, Sit" thing was after Family Ties.

Yes... here.

And, for what it's worth, "Stink Eye" is now my favorite expression of the day.

I hate blogger it's giving me more misery!

Your dog looks cute which means you're going to have your hands full. The cuter they are the more sinister they are deep down.

Jacki said...

Are you talking about the dog or your wife?

C.M. Jackson said...

very funny and how cute your puppy is! great post!

Jaime said...

love the dog on the skateboard. as i was laughing over that picture, my mother called to tell me my father was trying to skateboard down the driveway. dads and dogs don't belong on skateboards.

VE said...

Aladdinsane12 – I saw him do a full 180 double peg stall… ;)

Janna – You’re right! Whew…that was going to keep me up all night too.

Jacki – Ha! The dog, of course…don’t let the wifey-poo even remotely think I was talking about her…I’d be in the dog house!

c.m. Jackson – Thanks

Jaime – So true…even though I had ramps and did jumps and was a pretty damn good skateboarder, I tend to avoid it nowadays…
