A Camera is worth a Thousand Pictures

This week’s Theme Thursday is CAMERA. Since I arrived at last week’s TT so late, I thought I’d be a day early this time. I know…that’s like camping out at the movie theater a full day early for Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 so I’d be first to see it. Don’t laugh either…they actually did a sequel.

But let’s examine all things camera.

In the old days you had to use film. You needed a dark room to have it developed. Well, that’s a bunch of BS…my basement room was plenty dark and it NEVER developed my film!

The other problem was the size of the good cameras. You know, to get those nude beach shots you really had to lug around a ridiculous sized camera.

Eventually, they miniaturized them…and well, they went a bit extreme if you ask me.

Now, along the way to the credit card camera you keep ruining by putting into the ATM machine on accident were a lot of whacky designs.

Take this one, for example.

Apparently they should have waited for Avatar before trying 3D pictures…

Then there was all the techno crap they kept adding.

I’m sure that one was stolen from the Borg…

Of course, spy cameras were all the rage and regular people wanted them too. Hence, these wonders…

Then there were the impractical designs that only America (or Japan) could come up with. As with any product ever made, you have to have a gun version

And let’s not forget stupid combination gadgets.

Because you never know when you’ll need to calculate the right shutter speed on your digital camera…

Eventually, they put cameras right onto your cell phone and dropped the need for a physical calculator. Of course, even camera phones had to go through some early prototypes…

And finally, it wouldn’t be Fantastical Nonsense without a ridiculous vehicle featuring the theme…

Trying to imagine what that van would look like if all of the flashes popped at once.

A gun camera.

Whoda thunk it.

Well other than YOU, of course.

And a personal thank-you for getting rid of that awful pic of the day!

I feel so much better. *grin*

Nessa – It might be scary to record what really goes on in there…

Cheryl – Right up there with my nonsensical standard!

Monkey man – Here, here!

Padraig – I’ll bet he does that when an oncoming car has his high beams on…

Quirkyloon – I did it just for you…you can sneak over to the photo archives in case you miss it! ;)

Subby – Actually, they did…it’ll be out this year. Check IMDB. It’s very sad news…

Those are some cool cameras there. Did they make a "pen" camera as a spy camera, and glasses cameras would be an easy one to use. Just look and take. How cool is that.

God bless.

I'm sad they stopped making Polaroid instant film. I used to think that was the coolest thing ever!!

Remember the "spy cameras" they advertised in comic books? I actually bought one of those way back when. It was a simple shutter, no shutter speed adjustment and no f/stop choices. They actually took some amazingly good photos, but the tiny film was way expensive to get developed!

I bought my first camera 2 years ago. Now I've got em on my computer, my phone. Making up for lost time I guess. YOu know, you can tell a lot about a man by the size of his zoom.

Hey, where did you get a photo of my van?

Tom said...

i had a tiny little camera once, but don't think i ever got the film developed...no labs around to do it! By the way, baino, my zoom is tiny. wah.

That camera phone is gold! I'd pay good money for that.

I am almost too embarrassed to admit it, bit if Peter could get away with it, he probably would have lenses as big as in the first picture. To get landscape and wildlife shots, I am sure.

didn't maxwell smart have one in his pen or something?

or was it agent 99 who had it in her lipstick?

i am such a product of late 60's TV, call me a geek.

YOU CRACK ME UP!!!!

Mrsupole – Who uses a pen anymore? People only text and type these days…that would be highly suspicious now…

Elizabeth – Now its insta pixel!

Roy – Wow…I’ve never heard of anyone who actually ordered something from the comic books. Cool…

Baino – Well zooming is as zooming does…

Incredible woody – I captured it…get it? Nevermind.

Tom – Never mention your tiny camera…just say get a pickup with monster tires to avert attention…

Roy – It is cool, isn’t it?

Sharonheg – Yes…phones and cameras and TVs have a way of showing that…

Subby – Not a lot of film for that thing I bet…

Reforminggeek – I used to love the original show…the gnomes give it a prankish two thumbs up

Pattiken – Admit it…you want to shoot the gun one…

Brian – I think they’re infiltrated at your blog with the amount of comments you get!

Ms. Gibson – Excellent. Smiles are at no additional charge. Everything else will cost ya…

Jacki – I’m sure it’s for those wildlife shots in the suburbs…

Everyday goddess – Now even I’m confused. He had a phone in his shoe but I don’t think it was a camera phone. I’m sure subby knows…

Betsy – Weird and unusual always is…well, sometimes

g-man – Wait…you’re early. I don’t post the Friday Flash 55 until 12:02am PDT!

Gab – Don’t worry…I have superglue to fix that

For some bizarre reason I think the juice box one is my favorite.

It would look TOTALLY natural to see a person holding a juice box up to their eyes.... right?

Stalker: "Oooh, perfect angle..."

Stalk-ee: "Why are you holding a juice box up to your head?"

Stalker: "I... uh... I'm trying to read the nutritional information. It's really tiny."

Stalk-ee: "You've been staring into it for over ten minutes."

Stalker: "I'm trying to watch my weight. By the way, can you hold still for a moment and not make any sudden moves? And maybe face southwest while picking up that rock over there?"

Stalk-ee: "That does it. I'm getting a restraining order."

I made a pin hole camera for science class in grade school. I never actually tried it so who knows if they actually worked.

Jaime said...

is there a prize if we can guess how many cameras make up that LOVELY vehicle?

lime said...

i gotta say, the ridiculous vehicles that go with each theme amaze me every time. i just have to ask"why?"

VE said...

Janna – Are you sure you don’t want to write all my posts from now on?

Catladylarew – Nothing like a multi-use product…

Perpetual chocoholic – I knew a pin head in high school…

Jaime – Yes…eyeglasses!

Lime – Ours is not to question why but to shake our heads in disbelief…
