You Can't Fool Me

The wifey-poo wanted a functional high-tech sun hat for outdoor adventures this summer.  I don't get it...for some reason she doesn't want leathery skin down the road.  Leather is pretty durable though but even that wouldn't convince her and she remains convinced that the direct sun is bad for you.

So off we went to R.E.I.  That's a huge outdoor equipment store.  I used to think it stood for "Really Expensive Items" but it actually stands for "Recreational Equipment Inc."  Whatever...

Now...shopping with the wifey-poo means trying on every.single.hat...and multiple times at that!  They have a wide variety of selection and after awhile I considered making use of their camping equipment while I wait.  You know, crack open some freeze dried stroganoff and fire up the camp stove while I wait.  All in sake of "just trying it out", of course.

But I stuck it out.  And sure enough, she tried them all.  And that's when we got to this one...

Now, you can try to convince me all you want about the high tech features of this hat but it's just butt ugly.  You can't fool me.  This is a mullet hat!  I'd rather be a red-neck literally than to wear that damn thing.  Unless it's got an ATM slot in the back that spits out $20 bills every few seconds, there's no way she's buying that one.

And she didn't.  She got a functional, practical and fashion forward one.  And the mullet hat?  Well, when the rich trendy folks don't fall for it, look for it at a Walmart near you...

Really Expensive Items is accurate!

The mullet hat might sell here in Texas....or up in Oklahoma. They need it for noodling.

I feel so uncool since I don't know what noodling is. Is it something you do at the Olive Garden?

reforminggeek - I don't know what noodling is either...is it a variant of spooning? Spooning leads to forking, you know...

incredible woody - What do they do in the Olive Garden? I've been to the restaurant but I'm not sure where they hide that garden...

paula - Notice how they don't time mullet clothing fashion with mullet hair fashion? This hat should have come out in the 80s when we didn't know any better.
